  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Peter J. Cavanagh -- Clear, non-judgmental information. Must read! : This easy to read book is filled with clearly explained information that penetrates the gauzy thinking that is pervasive in our public discourse. All without political judgments! Definitely, a must read. Disagree with the comment that the vaccine efficacy numbers are inaccurate. The efficacy numbers are based on effect of the vaccine on the risk of death. In Canada, this risk is 0.07 % without a vaccine and the efficacy of vaccines is 95% to 100%. No valid information suggests otherwise. The Bertrand Russell quotes are a great touch. • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Martin -- More a pamphlet than a properly researched book : This book attempts to provide an educated risk and benefit analysis for readers who are on the fence about vaccination. But it fails to do so completely: it's risk and benefit section is a very simplistic calculation based on inaccurate data. It totally ignores the many studies on actual efficacy of the vaccines (the author incorrectly applies the 95% efficacy initially advertised by vaccine manufacturers). The author also ignores the publicly available VAERS dataset. For these reasons any conclusions in this book are invalid. Moreover, no references in this book at all. It may as well be an opinion piece. ( Reviewed in Canada on September 30, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Ted Rakoczy -- Essential Reading for those seeking to become better informed! : If you are looking for clarity about a topic that is so important to the wellbeing of all people around the world, this is the book for you! ( Reviewed in Canada on November 11, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jean Tipper -- What Covid has done to the world and why we should all take the vaccine… : Very informative and well researched book which can be read in an afternoon. Includes a brief history on other viruses and vaccines and highlights how serious the Covid-19 virus can be to so many individuals. ( Reviewed in Canada on September 30, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Peter D -- Credible and Approachable : Vaccine Hesitant is a truly approachable and timely book that tackles the important aspects of the Covid Pandemic. Dr. Makin breaks down the virus and the issues into clear language. He also uses relatable comparisons (like baseball) and even some clever humour. The science and the math of the virus is well organized and concise and helps you make up your own mind on the trade offs and decisions surrounding staying safe and healthy. Really recommend to anyone grappling with all of the conflicting information from multiple sources during this crazy time we are in. It is well worth the time (although a quick read) and more efficient than social media scrolling! ( Reviewed in Canada on October 6, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Allison Kelly -- Easy to read, VERY informative, NOT preachy! : This book is so well-written, it was hard to put down. It has tons of information, delivers it in an easy to understand way, and NEVER gets preachy. I will be giving it to my vaccine-hesitant friends and family to help them make the most informed decisions possible. ( Reviewed in Canada on September 26, 2021 )
